Imbibe UK : Sommelongue and Cailloux tasting in London

Imbibe - Wine professionnals

"With 22 ha in Chateauneuf du Pape and 11ha in Cotes du Rhone, winemaker Andre Brunel makes wines from grapes grown on his estate, as well as those in neighbouring vineyards that he tends.

The Cotes du Rhone Domaine Sommelongue 2012 consists of 85% Grenache and a splash of Cinsault, Mouvedre and Syrah, all taken from vines over 60 years old. A nose of red fruit coulis, liquorice and black pepper gives way to a delicate, light-bodied palate full of raspberries and cranberries with high acidity - this wine is crying out for a plate of charcuterie.

The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Cailloux 2011, meanwhile, had spent 18 months in large oak casks and the wood influence was evident on this velvety, medium-bodied wine with good acidity and flavours of plum, blackberries and vanilla along with a touch of menthol and leather tang"
